I’ve written these affirmation horoscopes for the lunation that begins with the New Moon in Gemini on May 22, 2020. With this moon, we are being invited to enter into conversation with our personal and collective stories-- the ones we tell ourselves, the ones we relive with each other, and the ones that established long-held patterns that may feel difficult to wiggle free from.
Instead of resisting these stories, I encourage you to witness them. Instead of judging yourself, seek ways to honor how those stories served you before you kick ‘em to the curb. Instead of avoiding the palpable grief that comes from a loss we aren’t truly able to comprehend yet, I challenge you to let it be your teacher.
It is possible for joy and sorrow to exist simultaneously in your heart.
It is possible for gratitude and disdain to escape your lips in the same breath.
It is possible for hope and despair to lift and sink you at the same time.
Be willing to hold the tension of these truths. Be willing to engage with the complexities that arise from doing so. Be willing to hold yourself and others with tenderness as you travel to the underworld and back.
No other humans have known times exactly like these, but the themes surely rhyme with what has come before. Find strength in your ancestors, whether you share their blood or not. You are made of stern stuff, and you are ready for this moment.
My heart knows what it needs.
I allow myself to feel grief.
My healing is coming.
I honor the fleeting nature of life and celebrate its beauty.
I honor the endings I need (even when they’re hard).
I turn my face to the sun and bloom.
I understand my gifts.
I am devoted to my sacred work.
I honor life through ritual and ceremony that are meaningful to me.
I know my resilience and I draw on it now.
I’m ready to do the work.
I am dedicated to seeing myself through challenge.
I love and honor myself.
When I am lost, I look to pleasure to guide me.
The divine is revealed through my joy.
I am safe, I am secure, I am grounded.
I have everything I need.
My ancestors have their hands at my back-- they will not let me fall.
The truth guides me and I am ready to listen.
I am ready to challenge long-held beliefs that no longer serve me.
I am willing to make sacrifices to protect what is sacred (and I am sacred).
I am responsible with my resources.
I am stable yet flexible.
I am generous with my gratitude.
I release all that blinds me from clarity.
I remain open to new ways of looking at my current situation.
I am ready to receive support and guidance from unlikely or unexpected teachers.
I ask for help when I need it.
I am open to new ways to create community.
I am ready to share my story.
I find joy and satisfaction in my work.
I look to my community when I am overwhelmed.
I prioritize my own nourishment.
I am ready to face the unknown.
I find courage in my curiosity.
When words fail, I speak instead through symbols, stories and metaphors.
